Save May Day Bank Holiday Protest, London

Monday 18th saw the museum director lend his support, on behalf of the museum, to a protest outside Parliament in order to try and save May Day Bank Holiday from being abolished. As many of you will know the May Day Bank holiday is a very special day for many of our seasonal customs and events, ranging from Padstow to Rochester. The protest was organised by Keith Leach, who was one of the main people behind the re-instatment of the Jack in the Green festival in Hastings. The protest saw many of the key figures from Hastings taking part as well as the local MP, Amber Rudd. A petition was handed to John Penrose with over 3000 signatures and growing. The museum would recommend as many people as possible contact their local MP's to protest against the proposal.
