Jack in the Green, Hastings

Re-established in 1983 by the Mad Jacks Morris Dancers, the Hastings Jack in the Green event has grown exponentially to become one of the largest festivals to take place in the town every year. You can learn more about it here -

What their website can't convey is the joyful and inclusive nature of the event and the benefits it brings to the community in terms of spirit and of course economically. The same can be said of many of our seasonal customs but the Hastings event sees audiences of up to 23,000 attending over the weekend and bank holiday.

We present here are a selection of portraits from the day taken by Gay Bogie, Spencer Horne.
