5000 Morris Men at London's South Bank

On the 3rd, 4th & 5th of September the South Bank played host to David Owen's 5000 Morris Men event. The event did much to generate debate around the oft-maligned English Dance tradition of Morris. Graphic arts, dance, film and art all made for an exciting and thoughtful three days. Tim Plester's documentary 'Way of the Morris' was one of the highlights and charted his touching personal journey from initial resistance and teenage scorn to eventual participation and acknowledgement. With contributions from Billy Bragg and Fairport Convention's Chris Leslie, it deserves viewing by a much larger audience so we hope a TV channel picks it up soon.
